Every now and we come across bands that defy being put in a certain category or may cover several categories or cross genres, blasé’ blasé’, you know what I’m talkin’ about and this would describe the great one and done album by Armageddon (not the German band which was pretty good).

Everything on this record is bad-ass, from the Yes-ish Silver Tightrope to the hard hittin, rockin Captain Beyond-like Path and Planes and… there are parts of Basking In The… that remind me of Presense era Zepp and God I don’t know!...

It’s no small wonder there’s a Captain Beyond feel as the drums are destroyed by one mister Bobby Caldwell, a true master of the skins… Then we hear a tad of Yardbirds, oh wait for it… Keith Relf, former YB vocalist!...  Who also plays some mean harmonica!... Oh snap lest we forget the amazing guitar of Martin Pugh, who played with also bad-ass Steamhammer and then Rod Stewart… Is it hard?... Yes!.. Is it rockin’?... Yes!.. Is it … munchos?... naw, but tastes good and don’t smell funny!..

So let’s recap; part Zepp, part Captain Beyond, part Yes, part Yardbirds… huh, sounds like a winning formula to me!!.. So check Brother Ego, walk the Silver Tightrope, go on to Paths and Planes and Certain Gains, bask In The Land Of The Midnight Sun, but be careful not to get eatin’ by a Buzzard ... or hit on the head with a Steamhammer!!!...
