Sugar Ain’t So Sweet so let’s go for a Ride and Drive, Bring It On, the Big House Burning, it’s on Fire, so hot that it makes my Blood Run Red, my Sister Blue because of it!!.. Woke Up This Morning and felt the Innocence of being able to Touch You… Just cleverly (right) named all the tracks from Mind Funk’s self titled debut, which back in ’91 ripped my brain, peeled the paint off the walls, caused major natural disasters!

Not so fast my friends, Mind Funk appeared on the scene during the grunge era but I’m here to tell ya their debut is hardly grunge, (which I have no problem with)  the second, Dropped (1993) was (grunge)and sucked IMHO, it had none of the energy or excitement that the first had, they released a third which I haven’t heard yet (People Who Fell From The Sky 1995).

So this is about the debut, an album so good the cassette (remember those) started smokin’ then burned up half of the living room! (not really).. anyways the band combined metal, funk and hard rock in a way that at the time had me frothing for the next release which as I said was a let down… Hard to compare their sound to anybody on this record as their sound obviously had many influences, the funkiness really adds an element of uniqueness that a lot of bands were sorely missing back in those days. The energy that flew outta the speakers was contagious!... Mind Funk is great way to describe their sound as well as name of this amazing album, crank it up and disturb… the universe!
