Not to be confused with Stone Axe from Port Orchard, WA, who released a self-titled album in 2010, this band was a proto-metal band from Houston in Texas, active between 1971 and 1972.  Stone Axe released just the one single in 1971 (Slave Of Fear/Snakebite) which was heavilly, and I mean HEAVILY inspired by Black Sabbath.  Good stuff here.  Two of the members, Ontiberoz and Bailey, went on to be members of the band Josefus.  Bassist Ray Turner, unfortunately, was not invited to join Bachman Turner Overdrive.
