Back in 1976, when they weren't planning raucous Bicentennial celebrations, the manager of Kiss, Bill Aucion, branched out and signed several east coast bands to the A&M label.  First off was Starz (see their entry), and next came this Boston based band - Piper.  Fronted by a vocalist who would ironically go onto stardom AFTER the band split up, and featuring a guitarist with one of the best names ever in rock - Tommy Gunn, Piper produced this gem of a debut which circus magazine touted as "the greatest debut album ever produced by a US rock band."  HMMMMMMM.  Can't agree with that assessment at all, but there are some really good tunes on this album, mainly Sail Away, Telephone Relation, 42nd Street and Can't Live With Ya.
