LISTEN TO ALBUM HERE

Elixir have released several demos, and albums, but this review of the band focuses mainly on their best effort, their magnificent debut album, Son Of Odin.   What a killer album!  This record has it all, catchy riffs, great guitar solos, and superb vocals by Paul Taylor. This album is so good, in fact, that In issue 137 (November 2005) of Terrorizer magazine, the album was included in the top 20 power metal albums of all time, alongside Judas Priest's Painkiller, Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II and Cirith Ungol's King of the Dead.  In addition, it is the first album to inspire 2 Robscurities videos!  For their second album the band replaced drummer Nigel Dobbs with former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr.  The album was released as Lethal Potion in 1990, but the band was unhappy with the mix, title, artwork and track listing.  As a result, the album was reissued in 2004 as the band had originally intended as Sovereign Remedy.

According to the biography on the band's website the name was chosen by original guitarist Steve Bentley closing his eyes and putting his finger on a word in the dictionary at random.  Just think of all the rotten names that could have been picked this way!  Example below:
