Oh yeah that lil’ ole’ band from Texas, Ultra (thought I was gonna say ZZ Top didn’t ya). Formed in 1975 off the heels of the band Homer, Ultra played a brand of hard rock that combined twin lead guitar and gruff vocals as well as a tight as hat rhythm section.

    If you put a little Blackfoot, some Wishbone Ash, dash of Thin Lizzy, a touch of Johnny Winter and maybe a pinch of peyote and put it into a blender on high you would end up with Ultra.

    Originally  a five song EP was all they released back in ’77, but with the retro-revival of recent times (thank God!), their music has been rediscovered and the sixteen tracks are surely a fun and interesting listen. So grab a cold one, eat a few buttons and enjoy the ride, Texas style..
