ANGEL

Angel first hit my turntable in ’76 when I bought Helluva Band, their 2nd album which was not only on Kiss’s record label but had such a cool album cover that I had to buy that sonofabitch! I was not disappointed as buying an album just cuz the cover looks cool can be a disaster but I won’t go into that right now. They were also the first concert I ever saw, opening for Frank Marino and Humble Pie, how cool is that!

Now to the matter at hand, Angel’s first 3 albums kick ass, featuring Frank Dimino’s high, high vocals and Punky Meadow’s brilliant guitar work, oh, not to mention Greg Guiffria’s killer keyboard work. However, after their third album On Earth as It Is In Heaven they started getting too commercial for my taste, just like Guiffria’s solo sh*t. On the verge of obscure Angel has been mostly forgotten but I remember how great a band they once were. Cheers.

Oh by the way, coolest logo ever!  In case you didn't notice, it's an ambigram - reads the same right-side up and upside down!

Angel was named after the Jimi Hendrix song Angel.

Punky Meadows even named his guitar Angel.
