Fist are generally considered to be one of the original bands of the NWOBHM movement. Of course, that meant that the band would have at least one name change to their credit, as they originally went by the name 'Axe', recording one song ("S.S. Giro") under that name . In 1979, under the new name of 'Fist', they released the single, "Name, Rank and Serial Number" and their first album, Turn the Hell On. The band then toured with UFO, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Unfortunately, MCA did not have any real experience of dealing with metal bands, (what a surprise) and the label ultimately dropped Fist in 1981 due to 'poor sales'. With a revamped lineup including lead vocalist Glenn Coates from Hollow Ground and John Roach from Mythra, the band released their second LP, Back with a Vengeance in early 1982.
