Ah yes the spirit of ’76 is alive and restless and …. Wicked!.. truth be told, as in No Rest For The Wicked, the first album by Iowa’s Truth and Janey.  They would release a couple more albums of which two were live (which are good) and a second studio recording that didn’t live up to this debut. (IMHO)

Led by Billy Lee Janey, the band got it’s name from the Jeff Beck Group’s Truth album combined with er uh Janey (duh)and voila!... Truth and Janey!... Comparisons to the JBG are there, as well as Cactus, Cream, & B.O.C..  They remind me of April Wine somewhat, your basic 70’s hard rock - the soaring harmonies and Janey’s crunchin’ chords and fretboard frenetics, not to mention his smooth vocals, made for a helluva album.  They even were voted into the Iowa Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2005!

Janey has gone on to carve out a career playing Blues and Rock as a solo artist, and hookin’ up with his son Bryce on a number of records, definitely worth checking out. Truth and Janey  hit the mark with this album.  Grab a cold one, fire up a blunt, and remember their ain’t No Rest For The Wicked!

No Joke - This is an actual picture of the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.  Pretty Impressive, Huh?
