From the mean streets of Detroit, Dick Wagner is one of the city's many accomplished musicians. Wagner in the 70’s was a guitarist for various bands including Alice Cooper and Lou Reed among others. He along with Steve Hunter formed one of the greatest tag-teams in rock, jamming on Reed’s Rock and Roll Animal and Coop’s Welcome to my Nightmare.

In ’72 after his band Frost disbanded he formed Ursa Major, and produced this great, and sadly, only album. On this record  Wagner displays some impressive chops and vocals, his voice sounds a little like Lonesome Dave (Foghat) to me and his guitar has this nasty yet clean tone to it. As for the songs a couple really stand out, Stage Door Queen; with it’s cool breaks after the choruses, he used the same riffs on the live version of Alice Cooper’s Black Widow; Silver Spoon’s badass beginning and the melody of Back to the Land make this album a classic rock “keeper” for sure. Rock On!

It has been recently learned that Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter did the lead guitar breaks in Aerosmith's Train Kept A Rollin, with Wagner providing the leads during the song's simulated live segment.
