Black Trip, a Swedish supergroup of sorts, consisted of members from Entombed and Enforcer. They produced 2 outstanding albums of classic hard rock brilliance, starting with Goin' Under in 2013 and culminating in 2015's outstanding Shadowline. Along with Thin Lizzy, the band cites Scorpions, Priest, Maiden, Saxon, and even Geordie and Blue Oyster Cult as influences. I also hear some Dianno style Maiden and early Def-Leppard (when they were good) influences as well. I eagerly awaited their next output...but the band seemed to disappear from the face of the Earth...

Until they re-emerged as the band VOJD in 2018. According to Joseph Tholl, “We were forced to change our name cause of an American band called Black Trip. They claimed the name and we couldn’t release our records in the US unless we changed our name to something completely different. So we had the choice of having a different name in the US or just change the name worldwide, which is what we did.” As to the line-up changes, “Jonas Wikstrand left due to lack of time, Sebastian (Ramstedt) and Johan (Bergebäck) left cause they wanted to go back to Necrophobic and play more brutal music. I see it as the same band as Black Trip but with a couple of new members. The Outer Ocean is our third album.” Although not as great as the previous 2, this album continues the great tradition started out by Black Trip.
