Peter Marshall would go on to become host of Hollywood Squares after the band folded.  Alas, the rumored Chasar/Paul Lynde collaboration would never come to fruition.

Chasar was a NWOBHM band formed in 1981 by the Marshall brothers, Jim (drums) and Peter (bass), with Alec Pollock on vocals and guitar .  Chasar was compared to a heavy metal version of Rush early on (The first song the band wrote together was “Kings”, a Rush inspired tune) and included several Rush covers in their set, but they eventually progressed into incorporating the standard NWOBHM influences of Sabbath, UFO and Thin Lizzy.  The band released a cassette-only version of the album “Chasar” on their own label, MPM in 1983, which was then picked up by the confusingly named UK based American Phonograph, a label that contained no other metal acts at the time, no metal history, and obvious piss poor distribution skills.   Despite an excellent “Kerrang!” review ... 'this is progression on a level with Zeppelin (“Houses of the Holy”) and Rush (“Caress of Steel”), the epitome of corrosive power surge but engulfed with the intelligence of perfect song construction', the band was forced to call it quits in 1988.  Was it poor management?  Likely.  Poor musicianship, Definitely not!
