Witchfinder General has been described as one of the pioneers of the doom metal genre.  Hmmm...one thing I know for sure is that they were definitely influenced by Black Sabbath, which is a good thing.  Their name comes from a 1968 horror film of the same name that starred Vincent Price, but the term Witchfinder General actually originates from puritan England and was an official appointed to root out the practice of black magic - namely Witches!
