Dedringer started out as a late-'70s cover band who, unfortunately, dabbled a little too much in the 'pop' side of things (for example Sunday Drivers).  They were originally signed to Dindisc Records (best known as the home of new wavers Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark).  Early 1981 saw the release of Dedringer's debut album, Direct Line -- a rather unremarkable collection composed of the singles they released + some other milquetoast tunes.  The song Maxine, however, features an awesome guitar outro (sadly this portion of guitar mastery is missing from the EP version).  After a serious car accident and various lineup changes, the band was finally signed to actual NWOBHM label, NEAT Records.  For their debut for NEAT they released a single, Hot Lady/Hot Licks And Rock 'N' Roll, that was actually quite decent.  Their subsequent album for the label, Second Arising, however, was rather uninspiring.
