Three Man Army was formed by Adrian Gurvitz and Paul Gurvitz, formerly of The Gun. Their debut album, A Third of a Lifetime, featured several drummers, including Buddy Miles, Carmine Appice (of Vanilla Fudge) and Mike Kellie (from Spooky Tooth). Tony Newman, who had previously played with Sounds Incorporated and Jeff Beck, joined for the group's next two albums, and a fourth album was recorded but not released until 2005. Newman then left to play with David Bowie, and the Gurvitzes united with Ginger Baker as the Baker Gurvitz Army.

An interesting side note to their career was their inability to count correctly. To illustrate this point, Robscurities enlisted the famous Count Von Count from the children's show Sesame Street to illustrate this point.

Even Count Von Count is confused.
In 1971 3 Man Army released their first album - A Third Of A Lifetime. 1! 1 album HA HA HA

In 1973 they released their second album - Moesha, or Three Man Army. 2! 2 albums - 2 Titles HA HA HA

In 1974 they issued their third album - titled Three Man Army Two. Wait, WTF?? 3! 3 albums, why is the third called #2 instead of #3???

In 2005 they released their 4th album (recorded in 1973-74) - titled Three man Army 3. 4! This was their 4th album! Why in the F**k is this called #3? I give up!!
