Leaf Hound formed in 1969 under their original name, Black Cat Bones. Early incarnations of the Black Cat Bones featured guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke who both left to form Free. Kirke, of course, went on to fame in Bad Company.
Kossoff was replaced by Rod Price, who went on to join Foghat.
Leaf Hound was a blues-rock band who, at the time, were compared to Free and even Led Zeppelin (questionable) to some extent. I would say more Trapeze influenced than Zep. As their name and the album title imply, they were considered one of the major influences of the stoner-rock movement, and that fact is definitely unquestioned. Hell, maybe they do remind me of Zeppelin? Too many mushrooms?
