Mythra was supposed to support Ted Nugent for his 1980 European tour, but they were dropped for the band Wild Horses because they actually had an album released at the time.
Mythra was one of the heavier members of the NHOBHM movement, with killer tunes such as Vicious Bastard, New Life and Death & Destiny providing the inspiration for harder, faster bands, such as Metallica. As was the case often in the NWOBHM movement, Mythra had to self produce their own EP - Death and Destiny. Fortunately, the British Steel label re-released the EP in 1998 with additional bonus tracks included. However, they did so without the band's input, and as a result, several of the tracks were listed with incorrect titles - imagine that!
It's a shame that they were never able to secure a good record deal, because this band absolutely tears it up!
One of the covers they played on gigs was Axe’s (later known as Fist) ‘Name, Rank and Serial Number’ which was a massive local hit and (according to reports) Mythra actually played it heavier and faster.
