Geddes Axe were a NWOBHM act out of Sheffield, UK, who formed in 1979.  The band released their first EP - “Return of the Gods” in 1980, followed by the “Sharpen Yor Wits” single in 1982. Their final official release was the EP “Escape from New York” in 1983.  Of course the Aftermath CD (artwork courtesy of Spinal Tap) contains all these recordings, plus some unreleased demos.  Return Of The Gods EP (Tracks 1-3 on this CD) is awesome!

Gedde’s Axe was named after Sir Eric Gedde’s drive for the public economy in the 1920s, not after Rush's Geddy Lee's favorite guitar, or some Game Of Thrones implement of destruction.  To be honest, either of those descriptions would be WAY cooler, but at least they were the only band named Geddes Axe!
