Cats in Boots were are a sleazy, hard rock glam band who sounded very much like other 'hair' bands of the era, Faster Pussycat, Love/Hate, Sleez Beez, etc. Interestingly, the band started off in Japan as a languishing heavy metal group called Seikima-II. 2 of the members, Yasuhiro "Butch" Hatae (bass) and Takashi "Jam" O'Hashi (guitars), defected to America in hopes of super stardom and formed Cats In Boots with Americans Randy Meers (drums) and vocalist Joel Ellis, who they recruited from a Cleveland-based rock band called Merri Hoax. Despite ‘Shot Gun Sally’ and ‘Her Monkey’ getting airtime on MTV’s Headbangers Ball, the band was never able to klaw to any success.
